Fire Protection Materials Checklist

Before asking for fire-protection material prices, check whether your enquiry contains enough information for a supplier to identify the required products. This short intake checklist covers the documents and decisions needed to start a useful quotation; it does not replace the approved design or a detailed BOQ.

For the main line-by-line procurement checklist, use Fire Protection Materials Checklist for Construction Projects. Keep that detailed checklist as the working reference rather than maintaining two competing versions of the material list.

1. Confirm the project basis

  • Project location and delivery destination.
  • Responsible designer and the party reviewing product submittals.
  • Current drawing, specification and BOQ revision.
  • Required approvals and any nominated manufacturers or models.
  • Required-on-site date and installation priorities.

If the design is still being developed, identify the unresolved items. Do not treat a supplier’s suggested product list as proof that the protection strategy or quantities are complete.

2. Check the material descriptions

If the list says…Add before requesting a firm offer
PipeSpecification, diameter, wall thickness, length, finish, end preparation and quantity/unit.
FittingsType, all connection sizes, connection system and required model or approved basis.
ValvesFunction, model or required performance, connections, operator and accessories.
Other fire-protection equipmentThe approved equipment schedule, package boundary and documents required for acceptance.

Use separate lines for different sizes or configurations. Record whether accessories are included, supplied by another party or still unresolved. A generic category name is not enough to identify what will arrive.

3. Make the commercial request clear

  • State the desired delivery place and ask the supplier to declare the quotation’s delivery basis.
  • Ask for separately identified exclusions and alternatives.
  • Request order-specific availability and proposed readiness dates.
  • State whether phased supply is acceptable, rather than assuming all goods must share one shipment.

4. Send and control one document set

Give the enquiry a revision number and keep supplier questions against the original BOQ lines. When the designer approves a change, update the controlled list and send the same revision to every party who needs it. This reduces the risk of buying from an obsolete quotation or receiving the wrong variant.

CanHope can review a complete or partial list through our fire-protection supply package. Send the documents and known gaps to info@canhopesteel.com. We confirm proposed scope, availability and required documentation line by line; an enquiry does not establish product acceptance or a delivery commitment.
