Steel Coil & Sheet

Cold Rolled Steel Coil Supplier

Cold rolled steel coil (CRC) is hot rolled coil that has been pickled and reduced at room temperature, giving a smooth surface, tight thickness tolerance and good formability. CanHope Steel supplies cold rolled coil and sheet for fabrication, appliance and construction projects. Contact us for available specifications.

Product Overview

Cold rolling gives a more accurate gauge and a better surface finish than hot rolled steel. Annealed (soft) material is suited to bending, stamping and deep drawing, while full-hard material is used where strength matters more than formability. Cold rolled coil is also the base material for galvanized and color-coated steel.

Coils can be supplied as full coils, slit strip or cut-to-length sheet; slitting, leveling and cutting are part of our processing services. Contact us for available sizes and processing limits.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between cold rolled and hot rolled coil?

Cold rolled coil is rolled again at room temperature after pickling, which allows thinner gauges, tighter thickness tolerances and a smoother surface. Hot rolled coil is thicker, has a mill-scale surface and is usually more economical per ton.

SPCC is the commercial-quality cold rolled grade in JIS G3141. It is commonly compared with ASTM A1008 CS and EN 10130 DC01.

Annealed (soft) cold rolled steel has been heat-treated after rolling, so it bends and draws easily. Full-hard material is not annealed; it is stronger and stiffer but much less formable.
